Scrap the P4 idea. For a portable, you want low power consumption, small size, and low heat. The integrated mini-itx processors kick ass in all three. You do not want to be carrying around a 100W processor and a full-sized heatsink.

Some mini-itx boards have s-video out, but you still need to ...

First: Damn, be careful. I hope you know what you're doing. Even small CRTs can have kilovolt caps, and they can 'soak' back to a dangerous voltage after you discharge them.

Do CRTs necessarily use RGB?

Start looking up data sheets for the chips on the circuit board.

Sorry I'm entering this late. I've taken a few classes on embedded systems hardware and software. I don't have a Genesis to play with at the dorms, but I might be able to help you guys next week. Does anyone have high-res pictures of the Radica board?

Current generation is 20-50mhz. Next generation will be up to 100mhz.

It's more like a nano-itx machine.

The circuit you posted uses a regulator, not a DC-DC converter.

Check mouser.com and digikey.com for parts.

Yep. Watt-hours (voltage * amp-hours) are conserved, minus ~5% inefficiency. Make sure the converter you get can handle the currents the N64 draws.

You need programs specially designed for distributed computing. Unless you can get the source code for an emulator, rewrite it, and recompile it, you're out of luck.
