Re: Little Help with desoldering

when using the 30 watt iron be careful not to hold it in any one place for too long or you could damage the board resin (making a board useless or a nightmare to repair), or you can accidentally flow solder over contacts (which can be a pain to clean up).

I always use a 15 watt iron for modding and ...

Re: PS3 Negcon Controller help pls

looking at the inside pic of the negcon, as you noted, there are three potentiometers, two for the I and II buttons and one shoulder button. I have never used a negcon for playing wipeout so I don't know why that is, apart from guessing they were simply used as analogue controls; in game.

I reckon ...

heheh, thank you all for the replies so far ;)

I think the key is to modify the springs...

my goal is to make the thumbstick firmer, not too firm, but more than what they currently are. And if its successful I'll put the end result into my old nunchuck mod I made a while back.

have you heard of XFPS?

heheh, thanks... yes I am aware of that adapter... although, the people that got me thinking about the original idea had already tried that and reported that it wasn't very good. They had some problems configuring/binding keys in certain games ...

making an analogue control stiffer...

lol... no innuendo was meant by the title ;)

seriously though, as the topic suggests... how would you go about making an analogue thumb stick control stiffer?

My reason for wanting this done is because, personally, I feel the analogue controls are a bit too loose for my liking.

This is initially ...

thanks for some more insight!

I can safely say this project will be shelved by me for a later date, as I have to many other commitments at the moment. But I'd still like to have a crack at it!

... I had assumed the pesky analogue control would be the main problem.

I can't understand why the guys ...

xbox 360 PS2/mouse compatability

Just throwing a suggestion out in the wild here...

With M$'s decision to not support usb plug n play mice, has anyone tried to mod a PS3 Splitfish control to work on the 360?

I have a few ideas floating around in my head currently, and I'd love to try this out myself but at the moment funds are ...

heheh I was going to suggest emailing Namco! ... you never know?!

as for the wiring... I have a fair amount of soldering experience but when it comes to circuitry I'm at a loss pretty much...

I modded a wii nunchuck to work on the ps3 a while ago using the piggy back method I mentioned. I came ...

I was thinking about this earlier today and then thought about water cooling the PS3... sure enough it had already been done!

I could only find pics from one guy though, and they didn't show the whole setup. And it had to be either upside down or standing sideways.

thats why you want it! ... I can see the reasoning behind the idea now.

...and if you did pull it off, and it worked well , you'd certainly be laughing!

I reckon it's do-able once a few things are worked out, I doubt it'll be easy though.

First off why doesn't it work ...

I dare say it's possible... BUT... it would be one hell of a re-wiring job.

The PS3 controller is a real sob to put back together once cracked open (quite literally) and everything fits in perfectly, whereas the PS3 control going into the 360 shell provides a fair amount of space to work with ...
