lol... that's not dusty!
here's a pic of an xbox I was asked to repair last year. It ran fine but it had a faulty DVD rom, which I fixed in less than ten minutes.
...my cleaning ocd started to twitch the second I took the top off, and after a short time I managed to convince the owner to let me clean it fully!
if you look closely at the first picture, just to the left of the main board power connection, you can just see a small part of the circuit board that was covered, and how clean it should have been!
anyway back to the topic...
my ps3 sits on my desk in an office environment it rarely sees any dust at all. I use a compressor hose every now and then to quickly blow through it and at the same time I do my pc... but I have found hardly any comes out... so I'm guessing there's very little in it...
however in the lounge I fear this would be a completely different story, there's a lot of bare brick work and a log burning stove... two days without dusting in that room and everything shiny is covered with a thick layer... it's completely unavoidable in that room. So imagine a months worth of no dusting!
another thing I see as a factor is ambient room temperature... in my office there is no heating, but the heat from my pc and 24" monitor keep the temp (when it's less than 10 degrees centigrade outside) at a bearable 12-14 degrees centigrade inside... when I do use a heater and I'm playing UT3 for instance, the fans kick in after about 20 minutes, and then run slower once the system has cooled, or I turn the heater off.
