making an analogue control stiffer...
lol... no innuendo was meant by the title ;)
seriously though, as the topic suggests... how would you go about making an analogue thumb stick control stiffer?
My reason for wanting this done is because, personally, I feel the analogue controls are a bit too loose for my liking.
This is initially aimed at a PS2/PS3 control analogue assembly.
Making the springs stronger springs was my first idea... I took several broken analogue thumb sticks apart to see how it could be done but, I cannot initially see an easy way to do this.

Remind me how the spring in analogue sticks work again?Valium wrote:Wouldn't that loosen it?ShockSlayer wrote:Stretch the springs?
Springs that have been stretched out give more resistance, so I figured that might work. But I haven't opened any joysticks lately.

I have no Idea what you are talking about compression- expansion, but in an n64 joystick you take it apart and then you strech out the spring and it works better for a couple weeks.

The more feedback you have, the more accurate you can control, to a certain extent.
I'd be interested in doing this kind of mod.
Great for any games with sniper rifles.
