Have YOU ever felt an apple case?

I prefer homebuilt as well, but Apple, while overpriced in my opinion, has some of the most solidly built hardware I have ever seen. If only they had an option with no Apple on the front, and no OSX, for $100-200 less... Yeah, I would buy that.

If there's one thing I've learned about Apple it's that you get quality.

Haven't you ever heard the stories about the three tubes of thermal paste? Or actually FELT the case. These things are cheap garbage that they charge you an exhorbitant amount for, because it's a Mac. Apple stuff is not quality. It's probably because everything else is so cheap, people lack perspective now.

I'm sticking with my homebuilt PC.

EDIT: Okay, sorry about that rant. I don't like Macs, I think they are overpriced, and I am a really function over form person. (as my Ugly Voltage Regulator can attest)

I currently own and actively use two Macs, and have used them all my life, so yes I've felt the case, and I think they're well built and well designed. I'm not sure what you're talking about with the thermal paste, but manufacturing errors happen all the time with any company, quality control can't stop everything. I'm just talking about in general.

How is the keyboard? I like that matte finish, while not as sexy as the HP 2140 all metal case, it looks nice.

It's an MSI Wind, heh. The black matte is beauuutiful, I couldn't be more satisfied. The keyboard is compact, but a hell lot easier to use than any other netbook's I've tried out.

Same laptop as I have, they really are awesome. Only thing is I let it rst between my legs to much when cross legged so I ruined the cord and need to get a new one.

If I could get a nice Linux machine that size but with the same keyboard as a Tandy 102 I would be a very happy man.

The problem is that I don't want vista-provided AMD garbage with only DDR2 and a lesser video card, especially not from HP. Also, the lower power consumption means quite a bit to me in that I can leave it on all the time without the power bill going up (apart from that, it's just ~6x6x2 inches)

My extra gigabyte of DDR3 ram cost me 12 dollars, I installed it myself.

Some Pentium 4 processors run at 3.06GHz. Does that mean it's better than my 2.0GHz Core 2 Duo? I would receive no benefit from quad core; quad does not necessitate more speed, but rather improved multitasking and simultaneous threads.

That, and that rather large box consumes a lot of power in contrast as well as puts out more noise. OSX86 is buggy and statistically slower, and while I have ran it on multiple machines I would never want to rely on it.

Well, while you're talking 'bout AMD "crap". I just put the highest specced (3.0Ghz) AMD Quad-core Behemoth into my newly built rig, and I'm getting great performance for a decent price. I usually prefer Intel, but when I saw a combo deal with my GPU and that, I couldn't pass it up.
