The standalone 120GB drive comes with a transfer cable that will allow a one-time transfer of your old data to the new drive. Though with the old drive having been dropped, there's no telling if the transfer would actually be successful.

There's really no such thing as "investments" in the computer world. By the time you may actually need to record an uncompressed HD stream (as opposed to just watching it live, or recording compressed), the hardware required for it will be significantly cheaper.

You talked about storing football games, though. Watching live streams and storing streams are vastly different applications.

That shouldn't be a problem, but it wouldn't hurt to grab the newest drivers off Realtek's site and install those.
