XBOX360 No Audio On Laptop [Not really modding]

Hey guys I wasn't sure where to put this since it wasn't really part of modding the 360, so I hope this is the right section.

Basically I'm playing the 360 with the official VGA cable, and the audio setup has always worked on my desktop. I plug the 2 (red + white) in 1 adapter into my microphone slot and it routes the audio into my speakers.

However on my laptop it does not work. I don't understand why there isn't an option for me to unmute/mute my mic in the Windows settings, and the only way I can hear the audio is if I record it, then play it back. Which means the sound is there, I just have to figure out why it isn't routing to my speakers. My laptop has one of those built in webcam/mics, but I don't think that's the problem.

So right now my ghetto solution is to use Audacity then use "playback while recording" and record while I'm playing my 360. Unfortunately there is a noticeable delay and echo and other audio glitches.

Anyone have the same problem and solved it?

Go into sound properties, and go to the Audio tab. For your sound playback device, click Volume. Find Line In, and select it. Crank it up. Enjoy.

That's the thing, it's not that simple. I don't have Line In, and there's no box to check either.

I have a thing called Realtek HD Audio Manager but that's basically a fancy GUI to access the same settings.

Is your laptop running Vista? If so, the settings are a bit more hidden than under XP.

Right click on the standard sound icon (the white default one, not the Realtek one) and select "Playback Devices".

Select Speakers -> Properties -> Levels to get the list. You may have to scroll down to find the Microphone input. Unmute and adjust volume as necessary.

Keep in mind that microphone inputs aren't really meant for line-level audio, so the audio quality might suffer.

I'm running XP on an Acer Aspire 4720. I've never had any problems, but I had to downgrade from Vista to XP. Could this be the problem, even though I have all the right audio drivers?

That shouldn't be a problem, but it wouldn't hurt to grab the newest drivers off Realtek's site and install those.

I've gotten the latest drivers from RealTek, and I tried both AC 97 and RealTek HD Audio drivers separately. (My audio only works on Realtek HD Drivers). None of them solved my problems. =(
