Plastic cutting issues...

Alright currently I'm on my second attempt at cutting the front screen plate for the PS1 by hand mod. The first one went great till it was time to pop out the actual cut out for the screen. I was able to get the circular shape of the whole thing popped out with no problems (well maybe a bloody thumb ...

Actually there were two issues. One was the wires. I was using the thinner ribbon cable and early in the book Ben does state that those don't hold the charge. The other issue is that one of my LEDs does not work. Luckily I bought six so I just replaced it.

Just have to reassemble the LCD screen and ...

Chapter 1 in the book is called "Choosing a Game Console to Make Portable"
Basically it gives you the pros and cons of making each system.

I wouldn't say the PSone is the easiest, but it is the most desirable to me so that is what I started off with as a complete noobie here. So far I am doing well ...

Well no "juice" last night. Seems I have something wrong.

I can tell that the resistor is getting power because the thing got damn hot. Just no lights. I did set it down and it seemed to flicker for a second, but still really nothing.

I'll go back tonight and check on the wiring of the positive ...

I will do so tonight. Thanks. If it works I'm drinking a shot of whiskey in celebration of my minor victory!

Following the book.

Just thought I would mention my current progress from a complete newbie to this whole thing.

I have finished (without testing) the LCD screen mod. This was a lot easier than I thought and I am glad I took my time to do the job right. I have also taken apart the PS1 and removed the correct items ...

isnt that kind of thing erelivent? so what are you going to do with it? make some sort of extention? you could just trace the leds your self and save your self some time.
Thats what I was planning on doing, I think. I just needed some sort of verfication before I removed the ribbon. I am ...

First off sorry for the large pictures....

I am interested in this post. I believe I have the same sort of problem as the OP here. Here is a picture of the two boards in my controller (1 that shipped with the psOne):

No Sega Nomad? I am proud to still have one, huge sucker though.

I have been trying to collect systems (mainly ones that I once had), but once my wife figured it out she quickly put a stop to that. Boooo on her! What can I say though? She beats me
