Im going to take another look at the whole thing this weekend, take it back to the start and check the solder points.

Its hard wired onto the board, I will see if I can find something so I can test through a tv.

after reading that it doesnt need the full 12v I tried the following spec adaptor:

9V 300mA 2.7VA

But this gave power to the screen but made buzzing noise at the same time.

I have basically wired it straight into the points where you would connect the original power supply not by-passed anything ...

Im using the screen in a xbox but I have a replacement cord from M$ and it trips as soon as I have the screen plugged into the 12v molex, tried to find a good way of getting 7v but it still tripped.

Using an external adaptor for power? test reasons Hip Gear.

For test reasons could I use an external power supply for a hip gear screen just so I can test it at lower voltages before putting it into my xbox?

I want to test and get the screen connections working 100% before mounting and wiring up the voltage from the motherboard.

I have an adjustable ...

For my use I dont mind having a fan behind the screen but for a portable it would suck.

I tried what I was on about earlier and wired up the red and yellow wires from the molex to the screen to give me 7v, my power cable protection kicked in and shut down my xbox... guess I need to test with a ...

does this sound right? to get a 7v for a hip screen you could use the molex on the xbox and use the 12v in and 5v out to give 7v? rather than just the ground for the 12v.
Therefore connect in to 12v Yellow connector and out to 5v Yellow connector.

Someone just suggested this on another forum, I ...

I have this new style board and Im getting the loop as discussed in my previous thread, I was running it from 12V so that is probably the main cause of this.

I have only run the screen for a few seconds at a time.

When opening the board I noticed that the back pcb had a green wire jumped from one ...

the looping is caused by overheating i think, i plugged it into 7 volts and it ran for about 2 and a half hours without looping
What system were you running this on? Ive followed tutorials in the past from xbox-scene which advise to use the 12v connection on the molex. If it will run on 7v I will ...

I got a Hip Gear screen sent across from Ninjai (Thanks :D ) I installed it in my xbox (PAL) and the screen worked but was displaying in black and white, I switched off my xbox to see if I had good connections and when I switched it back on I get a looping image.

The colour could be just to do with ...
