Hip Gear Image looping and BW.

If you're making a portable you probably need something to watch it on. (Unless you want to guess what's happening in the game, but I wouldn't advise that) Anyway, this forum is your "Hacking a pocket TV/screen" one-stop solution. Share your experiences and knowledge here.

Hip Gear Image looping and BW.

Post by Goodwin »

I got a Hip Gear screen sent across from Ninjai (Thanks :D ) I installed it in my xbox (PAL) and the screen worked but was displaying in black and white, I switched off my xbox to see if I had good connections and when I switched it back on I get a looping image.

The colour could be just to do with the contrast and colour settings so I will test them when I sort the loop. I also have software to switch to NTSC video mode which I can try.

Any ideas on the looping? I need to sort this before the colour issue.

the looping is caused by overheating i think, i plugged it into 7 volts and it ran for about 2 and a half hours without looping

How did you connect it? RGB, Component, or S-Video?

What system were you running this on? Ive followed tutorials in the past from xbox-scene which advise to use the 12v connection on the molex. If it will run on 7v I will do it that way (after all a lot more knowledge in this area is within this forum).

How did you connect it? RGB, Component, or S-Video?
The connection was made to the underside of the video connection on the xbox motherboard, as in the following image:-

I only jumped the two wires to the left, and didnt bother with the other jump or the audio connections.

The install guide I followed can be seen at the following URL:-

Yeah, I think that too but it wasnt my main fix, I will try a package called Enighma (sp?) which is a video region switcher for the xbox.

Any help would be great,

^your digram there shows a composit connection

its sounds like the screen is ntsc and and game your playing is PAL you ether need to switch it to NTSC or connect to the screen through RGB instead of composit
Im done here
