wasn't the DS shortage actually caused by nintendo assuming failure and only importing a couple million units? (2 as demos in every retail point)

I don't think there was a huge demand for them. Even I didn't want one. My reaction on launch day was "oh, that was today?"

last time I saw a secured PDF it was tied to the MSpassport--couldn't view it on my other machine or when I wasn't online. That was microsoft's, but there are various products that handle this. adobe's own plan for digital rights management actually seems to be the weakest.

but I can't see how an ...

why should nintendo put high def in the revolution?

Nintendo is rapidly retreating toward the world of TV games. They can't compete with big money, so why should they pay for big money features in their system.

don't forget that nintendo's most successful system was the gameboy. how many features ...

don't forget that you can only get them back if they haven't been overwritten by new data--so she better not be using that computer in the meanwhile.

I used to see them in thrift stores regularly--though the thrift stores in my current area probably just throw them out.

I bought mine from a family cleaning their kid's room out after he left. $50 was a bit steep, even back then, but it worked and came with boxes of software--some of which were ...

all files are lost on macs...
I couldn't resist...

but if you don't have that software and aren't willing to buy/steal it, most computer shops offer data recovery as a service...an expensive service. I also expect those places charge a little extra for macs. having her pay for it instead of ...

rebuilding the arcade PCB, or the game to look newer? which do you mean?

sometimes the game companies put out updated romchips so you can upgrade to this years version of the game, more levels/characters, or even totally different games.

or you talking about something homebuilt? upping the ...

it's a CTX easypro 550. I got it at goodwill for $20. (they must have thought it was a slide projector) But it's probably the same thing as that maverick you mentioned, as it does have that issue, especially with the higher resolution inputs, and in high contrast moments. the biggest problem with it ...

you could also build a shallow mold and use that clear, 2-part hobby resin to 'pour' yourself a slimmer game. But it does seem like a lot of work for something that's already too much work to begin with.

 for NES it might be nice to rip them out of the case and keep them naked. They varied in size but the biggest were still about half the size of an nes cart. (and naturally thinner)

then just give your portable plexyglass door so you don't damage them.

Yes, VMUs are probably (much) faster, and more compact, but there's no extremely cool boxart associated with them. And it's too bad about that whole thing about keeping batteries in them... what was sega thinking? why didn't they give it a rechargable that recharged from dreamcast power?
