I am interested in buying one but where? :?

Looked on ebay and the out look there idn't so good not many there even fewer for "buy it now" and shipping is always high. the lowest I've seen is $18.08.

Any recomended brick-and-morter chains/stores in the north east (USA) that might have them? tried calling EB and GameStops near me but gave up after the first few because when I called they all sounded so incredulous*. I wish they had more older trade in stuff. do they even take stuff like that anymore?

* in retrospect one of the answers i got from a guy at EB was kinda

funny: "No we don't carry any productivity stuff"

He must have been genralizing since he surely couldn't have thought I was actualy going to do office work on the thing!

are you looking for a real commodore 64 or a c64 DTV?

Tip: Ask Amatuer(HAM) Radio Operators. The C-64 had some capabilities and programs which made it capable of translating back and forth between morse code and text when hooked up to a HAM Radio system. Some HAM Radio Operators still use them for this purpose, even though they are 20 years old. That's where I got my Boxed C-64, as well as a BUNCH of software, two disk drives, and a Commodore 1902 monitor. From a Ham Radio Operator. ^^*

Yeah I was after the real thing (the tv stick plug-in thingy is an emulater any how). and thanks for the tip MM007 I thought I saw somthing about ham radios on a site about it. Btw has any one ever seen/owned/used an SX-64. its truly a shame it won't work with a tape drive. other wise I would absoloutly hunt one down. hmmm.... maybe I'll make my own.

Ah, the SX-64, the first full color portable computer. I WISH I had one...there is an Mini-ITX mod of one on mini-itx.com as well as a Commodore and 1541 disk drive ITX mod.

(According to the 1541 mod, the 1541 is a modified Apple drive, so keep that in mind if you can't find a 1541 drive for the Commodore 64 you look for.)

Also, there was a successor to the C-64, the Commodore 128, that was backwards compatible with the C-64, but had 128KBytes of RAM instead of 64KBytes. Keep an eye open for that too, as it can run all C-64 software fairly fast.

If all else fails, look for a Commodore Vic-20. That was the direct predecessor to the C-64, and can run some of the more simple software.

the joystick isn't an emulator, it is all the hardware of a c64 on one chip, kinda like the nes on a chip. I want to make a c64p one day.

Try thrift stores/junkyards/yard sales...

Maybe put up want ads in the newspaper if you really want one.

The DTV isn't an emulator, its the real deal except smaller.

Anyway, I have a C64 with a power supply that I might be willing to sell, how much will you pay?

I used to see them in thrift stores regularly--though the thrift stores in my current area probably just throw them out.

I bought mine from a family cleaning their kid's room out after he left. $50 was a bit steep, even back then, but it worked and came with boxes of software--some of which were on disks that still worked...

The DTV is the real deal, it isnt emulation. It's the smaller brother to the Commodore One.

Your kidding me right? I thought all those official plugins were Emulator based (kind of ironic if you think about it). Hmmmm..... maybe It is hackable in that case (unlike the phantom Atari-on-a chip). A 128 is good idea and I wish I could get one but there are zero on ebay right now  oh well I will just have to keep my eyes open. MM007 (or any one) I don't know if this is spamming but there is a sx-64 up for auction on ebay and it isn't going for very much (being sold as is/untested do to missing power cord)

P.S. Jaytee i'm affraid I don't realy like buying stuff privetly without an inbetween service like Ebay. Sorry just for security reasons not you personnaly.

I can always put it on eBay if you really want it, but there's no guarantee that someone else won't get it because they're willing to pay more.

Just use Paypal, or ask somebody really nice and trustable(like gannon or HK) to be a middle man.
