Well, without any information, the only thing I can tell you is to take it to someone who knows how to fix them. Maybe if you told us what exactly the problem was, and exactly what symptoms it is exhibiting, we could be a little more helpful.

going rate on them at goodwill is $4-6.

much lower than the going rate on any parts required to fix them.

The only way to fix it is to take it apart, throw each individual piece onto the pavement, smash them with a hammer, make your friend pick the scraps up because he broke his friggin' system, then go buy a new one.

Or, just skip to buying the new one.

Keep the cart slot though, people like em for Radica's. you could get maybe 2 dollars for it.
