I think minsker is right on this one... as long as you didn't cut off any of the little caps that were outside the RF box, then you should be okay. If you look at the board where you cut it, you should be able to see the traces, and scrape down to them.

Just go to wal-mart, and put one in layaway! (or if you don't like wal-mart, anywhere else that does layaway )

I like the "orange" spray cleaner that you can get about anywhere. (I got mine at the dollar store). I use it on the pin connectors and to clean game cartridges, it works really well!

If you're not getting any green bars, it sounds like the screen isn't even powering up correctly. What kind of battery are you using? Did you check your voltage coming from the regulator on the right pc board (should be near 7.5 volts going into the psone screen)?
