Good Fundraising Ideas?

Post by nos_slived »

Hey. Next year, I am going down to Australia and New Zealand with one of my classes, and we are looking at some ways of fundraising (because it is over $3000CAD/person, YUCK!). I was just wonderring if anybody has any ideas for a good way to make money fast and easy. We went negative on bake sales, because they cost more than you make, and chocolate/magazine sales(pretty much anything door-to-door) usually don't work too well.

We have already decided to do candygrams, carwashes, table sales at flee market, probably BBQs, and some stuff that I can't think of right now :? .

So, what has worked for you guys?

Also, to anybody who has ever been to Sydney, what are some good, fairly cheap, attractions?

$3000. Thats crazy. Even in CAD. You must be flying first class, and staying in one sweet hotel. Are you going for like two weeks?

I've got 4 jobs. I actually don't know how I get time to waste around here. Of coarse, I would probably make a lot more money if 3 of those weren't volunteer  . I am actually just looking for some good ideas to fundraise, because we are all in on it.

I was thinking about how funny it would be if I passed you, and didn't know it was you :D . Are you in Sydney?

sell bootlegg DVD's of movies that aren't out yet, or are still in theatres.
*edit*

FIND SOME OF THE SHABBIEST CLOTHING YOU OWN.
TEAR SOME OF IT, find a trash bin, dump it out and roll in it.
rubb dirt on your face.
then put on a hooded sweatshirt, and a down jacket over that.
take off your shoes, and walk barefoot for a bit.
go downtown, with a starbucks cup.
find a piece of cardboard and write on it with a black marker
"I aint gunna lie, im just lazy"
or
"help me out, im down on my luck, poor, broke, and hungry."
and panhandle.
here's an example, and panhandlers in big cities like san francisco which is approx 20 miles from me make approximately $300 on a good day.
just beg in the rich areas, and watch out for the police

here's a tip, never let your cup fill more than 1/3up.
immediately put all paper money in your pocket.
and keep your head on a swivel for rival panhandlers/police.
ive done this before and made $34.50 in 1 hour. just dont beg in places near where you live, or someone will recognise you, and there'd be trouble.

but seriously, you could just hitchhike to AU.
find someone with a private jet. or you could even steal a jet and fly it to austrailia.

Actually, we are going coach, and it is a week, but it is pretty much all-inclusive.

I don't say this often, but IFR, will you shutup! I don't want this to be locked.

Also, could you guys take this a bit more serious. I usually don't mind joking around, but we need some good ideas.

look man, not many things will help you that havent already been said.
you're trying to get an insane ammount of money in a short time.

you could always ask a loan shark.
or sell a car or something.

but seriously, just wash cars and stuff, or mass produce something (t-shirts, bracelets, cookies, portable videogames, bumper stickers, or book covers or something like that) and try your hardest to sell out.

I said, I have a job.

We have just under a year to raise money, and I know that we wont raise it all, but it isn't that insane. Last year when my band went to LA, some of us raised more than $900 in less than 3 months, and that only cost us $1100 each.
