Sometimes I hate windows...

Do you have a technical question that doesn't really fit a specific console? Want some general info on electronics, hacking, making cookies, etc? Here's the place to ask! Go nuts.

Sometimes I hate windows...

Gawd, it's like Microsoft has some quality control problem that leaks into every nook and cranny (and Nook's Cranny) that it can find!

Here's the story:

I install and run this game called 9Dragons by Acclaim. The whole process takes about five hours.

I try to make a character, and *boom* my computer crashes in a magnificent BSoD. I boot it back up, and it tells me an error has occured. Yeah, no s***. Anyway, it tells me I need Windows XP service pack 2, whatever that is. But get this: in the "wave of the future" and "automatic updates," I guess they decided to leave out the "Download" button! So now I'm going through this god-awful mess of a maze of a website to try and find the updates I need to make sure my computer doesn't melt down whenever I try and play a freaking MMORPG!

EDIT: I had a number of slack-jawed sarcastic comments lined up, but then I just thought "Why bother?" and erased the whole damned thing.

Use Windows Update, or Microsoft Update, and it will get you SP2. It really isn't so complex.

Click "Download and Deploy SP2 to multiple computers". It's a big file, but at least you get a download link. (It's an offline installer, you obviously don't have to deploy it to more than one computer.)

I hate SP2.
