when i have the screen plugged into the battery, it pulls about 7.5 volts (7.5 volt battery) but as soon as i turn on my n64 (also connected to battery) the voltage drops to like 5 volts on the screen making the screen not work anymore. do i need another battery? or... please help
i have the power adapter hooked to the battery which is hooked to everything so i assume that its running off the wall adapter and charging the battery, but maybe thats hooked up wrong. but you know its the strangest thing, when i hook the multimeter to the wires going to the screen, it reads as negative volts (i used red and black wires)but when its hooked up "backwards" it reads positive volts, maybe i have the probes on the volt meter on backwards. like, mario kart will load and play for a second, like the title screen, but when the voltage drops past 6 volts the screen doesnt display the image anymore, but its still on.
I think its your battery, the N64 would just not work or die if it didn't like the 3v, but since it comes on for a second, I'm almost positive its the battery. Check for shorts are the power switch(s), too.
first of all, I see some confusion between mA and mAh again, the mAh does not tell you how much current a battery can provide (although I suppose it can be used as a rough index)
Ni-Cd batteries are pretty high current. just putting that out there.
Just hook it up to a beefier power supply (like from your PC - the red and yellow wires have 7v across them) and see if it works then.
