so first we start with the front view. see how far the cartridge sticks out on the right? thats about how long it will be on either side.

and this is the back, as far as i can take it apart without a screwdriver. the cart slot appears a little crooked in this picture, but its on semi-flexible brackets, so that is easily corrected. the brackets are quite strong, and easily take the insertion force required to put the cart in. they are made out of soft iron, soldered to the stock steel shielding in places. you can see the heatsink under the cart slot is held down indirectly by the screws holding down the shielding. the expansion pack's heatsink is held on with a piece of copper wire. my freind has arctic silver he will lend me, but for now im just using the stock grey pads.

i used enameled wire for this, i find it mich easier to work with than IDE cable.

you can see that the result is quite clean XD

here we see how i recycled some metal i found inside the original case as mounting brackets for the LCD screen. i had to cut a chunk of the LCD bard away so it would fit like it is.

and a closeup of the expansion pack. enameled wire, covered in several layers of clear nail polish. its not pretty, but it works.

this is mounted right where the old power connector used to be. you can see the trim pot i have to adjust the 3.3v line's voltage.

its about 2 inches thick.

this is how close the boards are together... the cable in the background is the A/V to the screen. right now this space is empty, but later i want to find some foam or something to stuff in here. ive already had problems with some of the higher components touching each other.
