I usually wave my hand around in the air for a moment before I grab what I'm looking for on my desk. I know the general location of what I need, but sometimes it's under something else. It's like I'm doing magic or something...

My workspace is just my room for soldering and electrical, and the garage for construction. Nothing fancy at all, as I usually hide my equipment within my more-than-disorganized drawers.

lol I've never had them on at the same time. I was raised to believe turning both on at once would create a black hole. Now that I'm older and pay my own bills, it really does create a black hole in your wallet.
