The Xbox isn't all that imposible, I've been doing some research on it. Im not saying that Im making one now but who knows later I might, do you remember the Dreamcast ? Im not saying its going to be as easy as the Dreamcast but someone going to have to try to, so why not me... This wont happen until next year because of the portables that I have to make and the new book Im working on. But wouldn't that be cool

It would be very cool, and I have no doubt that if anyone could do it, it would be either you or Ben. You two are the elite, much higher than the rest of us (well most of the rest of us).

If you do make a book, I think you should do what Ben did and make 2 kinds of portables for each system you cover in the book. One handbuilt, one Vacuum Formed, just for a little variety to the readers. Not to make your job twice as hard though... ;)

we could all make a compalation DVD on how to make like what ever console me and some of us el cheapos could make a Getho mod snes, or a noac? and you guys with cool junk can make a part on vacume formed cases, i could expand on my ideas for that eazy bansaw case thing that makes use of a wooden frame to make the case. it could be great just make a dead line like june30th for all dvd submitions, then put a torrent and a kazaa node out for it and we are in busness.

Dkap, man, I do have to admint I am really impressed with your work. I might not be a season'd portablizer, but with 15+ years of building stuff under my belt, i have someone of a high expectation. Ive notcied a lot of people here really suck at building things. (Dont take that as an insult everyone, im just callin' em' as I see em') I saw your DCp and i really was shocked.

As for the portable Xbox... yeah, it could be done. I just might have a working idea for a PSU. Mod chip and decent size laptop HDD for the games, no DVD-ROM (or Laptop slim-drive) and it should just work. Having to fit and power the original Xbox DVD just might be a bit too limiting.

its not that they "suck" per se, maybe you just don't as much as you don't care for some cases, e.g. frankencase, etc.

to be honest, I'm not much into the Frankencase thing either, I think it looks terrible, but the portable is not made for me so as long as the maker likes how it looks and it works fine then it isn't really any of my business. I still respect all the hard work they put into their portables though, weather I like them or not.

Im sorry, but when you use hot glue and electric tape to attach pieces of old plastic caes that dont match together, thats not frankencase. Or if you just use a hot iron to melt things together. Ive seen some pretty damn crappy workmanship! All it takes it some time and effort to do a decent job, its not even about skill. Just how much effort someone is willing to put in it. Eh, whatever, honestly, as long as it works, thats really the point. When it comes to the stuff i build, i like em to look good, and be rugged. But like i said, as long as it works, thats the main goal.
