cool, but, erm, ugly? I think it would do wonders for it if you simply smothed out your cuts and such, maybe add some plastic filler or something to fill in the edges.

i bought one of the heatsinks from radioshack and cut it down so its just an aluminum board and i tried the namco with other batteries and it still doesnt work so i think its fried
also should the 7805 get that hot if its regulating the 9.6v battery from the shack???

Yeah it will get pretty hot just from that. If you used a lower voltage battery (ex. 7.2V) then it wouldn't get quite as hot.

That's one sweet and sour portable. I know bad pun, but still that's a really cool case you built.

wow
i never knew my portable was that cool :D
ok to answer the dpad ?:
if you rip open the namco jpystiq its just a bunch of tact switchs thats get bumped by some plastuc that moves when you move the joystiq
on th namco board it has pinouts for up down left and right
i just wired up some tacts to it
easy as pie :D

yeah from what i see, the pinouts are simply labeled for eeeeveryone to see :o pretty easy to work with, hard to slim it. but i had an idea to have a dpad and a wheel apart for the twist control on the namco 2
