SNES to Parallel Adapter

Post by F »

I'm thinking of hacking a SNES Multitap to work in a parallel port using this tutorial. I'm going to use the first method (where he has just the cable, not the box with the 4 ports in it). Should it work if I use a multitap instead of a controller extension?

So, instead of using the female end of an extension cable, I plan to just cut off the male end of a multitap. This should work, right? I don't want to waste $15 if I can't help it.

Edit: It seems that my post has been moved to Super Nintendo 16-bit. Why? It doesn't have anything to do with portablizing a SNES, just with hacking a SNES controller to work with a PC. It seems like it would belong in a different forum, but whatever.

Anyways, is it impossible for this to work or do you guys just not know?

Should work just fine, pending you're either planning to hack every port into the parallel cable individually, or you have found a driver for your OS that accepts multi-tap input. The old DOS SNESKey did, but I haven't heard of any Windows drivers that do.

Crap. I thought I could just convert the single end. I didn't know I had to hack each port individually :(
