That's the only solution I have found so far, if anybody has any other ideas, please post them. I'm goin nuts here cause I REALLY don't want to open it up, I saw a pic of the insides and it's messy in there!

Uh, computer last more than 3 year. Mind you if you dont buy quality parts. They will become outdated before they need repair. even the big digitals have a rated life and will require regular cleaning of the CCD/CMOS. Of course you can expect to pay far more for service then.
It also sounds like your lens grew some mold (usually white or gray). Unfortunately, there's no way to clean it economically. Prevention is the only way, but even stored in a case, and in a dry area it still sometimes hits.
Ebay hint: there's no such thing as "a little bit of mold" on a lens.
