You should get the solar cells, than connect them to a few rechargable AA's (like they do in solar lamps) than it might work.

well the cheapest one from what I linked to just might be able to power a portable cd player directley its 2 volts but most are designed to run off 3 though may not be nessasery and has a max amp draw of 175mA witch I think is enoth

But if you had rechargable batteries, you could play when not in the sun.

most solar panels work anyway, of course, if the sun wasn't there at all, we would all die and they would be no light at all.
