Home-Made CD Player

Ok... I have a CD Drive (with all the things) and a Solar Panel, like you find on Calculators, and a watch battery, I want to make a homemade CD Player, why you ask, because It would be a great start since I've never done anything and I want to start to do something. Any help?

Why a CD player? Why not start on something different? A CD-payer would be difficult when i think of it, where will you get the case

oh, i guess that would be good if you already have some of the parts, when are you going to start, and when your done, post screenshots...

well the ez way is to power up the drive plug a something into the analog audio out and see if the cd starts playing of its own (most new drives dont) some evan have a play, stop and next button on them if yours dose not you will have to figure out the IDE commands to get the cd playing and somehow get those sent to it

(unnessasery explenation in case you did not know then cd drives for coputers first came out they could not figure out how to play a cd through the IDE cable they soon did but that put some stress on the primitire computers all cd drives still today are capable to playing music cds on there own through outputing sound through the aduio out on the back of them)

What did the CD drive come out of (or is it a standard computer drive?)?

I've got an old 24x CD-ROM drive hooked up to my stereo component system in my bedroom. (A CD changet is a bit out of my budget, unless I shop at the thrift store... hmmm...)

I'm going to start as soon as possible! I just need to find some more things, and a suitable case. I'm looking on Google for other people who just have this, a reason is, I hate speding tons of money on Batteries for my CD Player, when I can use that solar thing for a solar-powered CD Player!

I dont know exsackley what you mean "a cd drive with all the things" but perhaps you would be better off trying to power a portable cd player off a solar panel

how much dose it output ?

I have one of thse wind up power suply thingys that can power a cd player

It powers an LED Calculator flawlessly, if it has no batteries in.

I don't think so.

A simple calculator can run off of a solar cell because it draws next to no power. A CD player (even a walkman) draws quite a bit. You would need several of these solar cells, or a few of the RadioShack ones. (I got an LED to light from a lemon once... but you'd look silly carrying around a bunch of lemons connected to your CD player.
