N64 Power - DO I need 12V and 3V?

Includes but not limited to: SNES, Genesis, Sega CD, PlayStation 1, Nintendo 64, Dreamcast, Game Gear and I guess the Virtual Boy.

no the way it works with batteries is like
say you have batteries that are 1.2 volt and 2 amp apeice

10 batteries in parallel would = 1.2 volts at 20 amps
10 batteries in series would = 12 volts at 2 amps

just one follow up though....
if you have a voltmeter, if you dont i RECCOMEND one....
but test your voltage on a full charge of 8 cells
and then test it on 10 cells
you want it to be close-ish to 12v, if its like 11.5 or 13 your doing pretty good..., becuase the voltage converters for the 3.3v rail, and the n64's a\v output will regulate accordingly

hope ive been of some help...?

could you not use 7 1.2 batteries to achieve the 7.2v (approx) and then you can run the screen and n64 of one line with no canverters

i really dont understand why everyone makes this so complicated, i would have never dreamed of all this sillyness, i mean, what isnt cool about a 12v main power, how bout in the car you just plug it in, how bout 12 is the most universal, and yes a multivoltage converter is possible, but im sure not as cheaply and readily available as a walkman style converter...., all im saying is, go w/ a standard of some kind....

i mean im not forcing this way i did it on anybody, but to me it just makes heaps of sense, more than anything, do what your confortable doing, if running it off a main 7.2v system is what makes sense, do it, all i can do is give my opinion in the matter...

that would mean less batteries, and only 1 power converter
