sounds like a hardware fault.
I had nearly the same problem.
sometimes the computer just shuts down (i called it instant shutdown
)
Promblem was a faulty powersupply, 3 capacitors on the pcb.
new powersupply everything ok.
could be a simmilar problem with Peppers PC.
