Pfft, CRT TV's are only dangerous if you have no clue what you are doing.
Read an article on discharging the Flyback, Not that difficult, makes a loud POP, but once that happens it is fairly easy to work with, Just don't drop the tube, it will implode.

Do not give safety advice when all you are doing is repeating stuff you have heard, but never done.

The Flyback converter in a CRT is perfectly harmless when the TV is unplugged, there is absolutely nothing dangerous about it. Furthermore, you cannot discharge one. Why? Because there is nothing to discharge in a flyback, it is just some metal, wire, epoxy, and oil.

What you actually need to watch out for is the HV capacitor/s. Discharging them in a way that makes a loud POP is a bad idea, they are not photocaps made to handle a sudden discharge that fast, and you will probably damage them. A lot better way is to use some heavy duty resistors to make a proper load, then discharge it using those.
