One way you could do that is by having the 4 tack switches under the joy stick aeach movement of the joy stick would press a different tack switch

Perhaps there is a way to make it so you don't have to push the stick perfectly in one direction. Like, depending on where you push the stick it might act like you pushed one C button, or if you pushed it towards a corner it would act like you pushed 2 C buttons. I drew a quick picture to show what I mean:

i think you should just use it how it was intended it would be very hard to make it work like you want

That would be really cool for GoldenEye. Maybe you should just make a special "GoldenEye Edition Controller" THat wold be awesome!

of course it'll work...Ben did it on his CNC VCSp in his book with a Playstation analog stick, so you should be able to do the same with the c buttons ...........
here's what I said earlier:

in Ben's book, he shows you how to do something similar with the Atari controller.....first, he got a PSone analog stick and wired it up like how goodie said to the Atari board. then, he simply wired a 4.7K ohm resitor between each potentiometer pin and ground. that way, you don't have to push so much on the analog stick to make it work ...

Or you could rig it up with a couple 555 oscillator chips to mimic analog through the digital channels.
