SNESp V4 Work log

Post by Rekarp »

ok as I said in my coming back thread I am starting a project (two actually but the other is a surprise  )

As hinted in my recent addition to the reference thread this first project is a SNESp based off of the Duo. I am using a 2.5" LCD and a 4000mAh battery 7.4V lithium battery to power the portable. I am trying to make it the smallest as possible with at least 4 hours of battery life.

Your wood has a nice curve to it

Looking forward to seeing how this case will come out!

is that mahogany I see? how stable will the curves be as the grain is running parallel to the curve? will reinforce the inside?

I worked as a finish carpenter for about a year, so I love your cases.

thats going to be a nice case.

what did you use to relocate your cartridge slot? It doesn't look like you just used wires.

It looks like he used little bits of metal, maybe a few hundred cut up paper clips?

ohhhh clever.

also how did you get the cartridge slot out in the first place? My desolder braid doesn't quite do the trick, even if I add more solder, then try suck it up.

I recommend one of these (vacuum desoldering pump) and a somewhat hot iron (40W or so), or just use one of these (desoldering iron).

Thanks, I'll check radioshack for one of those.

edit: got the soldering iron with the bulb, and got it off. Why have I been buying desoldering wick all this time?!

thanks

because the desoldering braids can often pick up more than the iron can because of the tip the iron uses is fat and often hard to remove solder. I ripped out so many pins on one of my boards when i removed the cartridge slot.

I pulled one trace, but it looks easily fixable.

its sticking up (the trace), and part of the circle it connects to is gone, but there is still some of it left. can I pull the trace out completely and redraw it with pencil?

I could easily fix it with a wire, but if I could draw it in that would be even better.

you dont litterally mean make a circuit by drawing with pencil do you?? last time i checked graphite did not conduct electricity. and just wire it.

Oh, I thaught I read somewhere that you could fix traces by drawing them in with a pencil. I'll just wire it.
