Re: My Super Rutenik's (rubik's cube and SNES) project
YAY!!! well i have good news and stupid news... Good news is that the fuse on my old board is fried and could very well still work, Stupid news is that on my new board i found out why it didn't work... The negative post on my battery pack doesnt connect for whatever reason... So now i believe it should be up and running, unless sending 120 v through it fried it but the fuse should of stopped that.
Re: My Super Rutenik's (rubik's cube and SNES) project
well i got the old board to give out a signal again but there is no audio or video but the screen lights up when i complete the circuit... the same problem i had last time.
Re: My Super Rutenik's (rubik's cube and SNES) project
Does any1 at all want to help me?

Can we have pics of how you have it hooked up? Tried any other video sources on the screen, or outputting your console to a know working display, such as a TV?

Excellent
Re: My Super Rutenik's (rubik's cube and SNES) project
Its not even the PSOne screen im using, its my crappy intec screen for the gamecube just hooked up through the AV. but ill give pics in a few or just a diagram.

Thats the basics of it. Can someone comfort me by honestly saying both of the boards aren't fried?

I had a similar problem of no sound or video on my snes mini board after following the steps in bens book and then I saw a few posts on here about connecting a wire from the ground on the snes (spot 2 in the book pg.240) to the where the ground would be if the 7805 regulator was still on the board. hope this works.

*cries* YES YES YES!!! IT WORKS!
I love you MasterAmado. im going to guess my old board works too

Glad to hear its working now! The funny thing is that I had exactly the same problem when I followed Ben's guide about a year ago. And I think I said exactly the same thing to LOB when he helped me
EDIT: I found the post LOL. I guess I spelled my name differently, THAT'S why I couldn't log in.

Look, there's chance mistakes, but this is ridiculous. What could have given you the idiotic notion that this would be a good idea in any situation?gamerjr wrote:unless sending 120 v through it fried it

Re: My Super Rutenik's (rubik's cube and SNES) project
Yeah... i had a bad idea... but it just blew the 7805 and the fuse so all is good. But not i have another board to do once i finish my personal SNESp. I have the cartridge slot half way done... I ran out of wire... I should get some more in a few days; but so far all is good
Re: My Super Rutenik's (rubik's cube and SNES) project
Ok currently i am about half way done with the cartridge slot only have to attack the wires to the board itself now. Bum i decided to do the LED mod because the cartridge was rather boring... So i wired up everything to the 100ohm resistor i think it was and to the 7805 on the board of the PSOne screen. I plugged it in with my PS2 cord and the screen turned color to blackish (a different black) and the screen lit up for about 1/100 of a second. so i go to take a look and the ground fell out. After i reattach it it does the same thing... so i checked all the solders and everything and i try it again and it lights up and the ground falls out again.. idiotically i solder it back on while it was still on and now the screen wont turn on anymore... Would a blown fuse cause this?

I do all my soldering with the screen on.
But yes, sounds like a blown fuse. Don't bridge it, replace it, you are obviously the kind of person who benefits from a safety net.

Well first of all would it been because i used the PS2 adapter? i powered the screen no problem before. 2nd where is the fuse at? i dont want to hunt it down in the forums... but i will anyways

Actually, the fuse is labeled on the PCB "PS2". Go figure!
What is the voltage on the adapter? The PSone LCD can really only take up to 8.5v before things get sketchy, and 9v is an absolute max.

8.5v... and the fuse wasn't blown i found it and checked it... the ribbon cable is in ... any help?
but it was running with the 8.5v before so why isnt it now?
Edit:
I didnt think that this part would matter but i used duct tape instead of electrical tape. Would this cause it not to work...
