The majority of the ones I own are 3V or 3.3V.

yeah, i've only ever heard of 3v and 3.3v leds.
they call me the Queen of Bondo, though maybe i should be called the Queen of Epoxy Putty

IR LEDs go into the 2-3V range somewhere. Those aren't very useful as a backlight, though.
