Screen Surgery

If you're making a portable you probably need something to watch it on. (Unless you want to guess what's happening in the game, but I wouldn't advise that) Anyway, this forum is your "Hacking a pocket TV/screen" one-stop solution. Share your experiences and knowledge here.

i was just wondering if i could cut everything off above the blue line because it won't fit in my case if i don't. i know you can desolder the transformer and don't need it, but do i need everything else above that line? any help would be awesome.

If your screen is led modded then yes you can cut everything off above that line.

Yknow, I can't help but wonder, if after cutting of the remaining parts of the screens inverter for the backlight if it makes power draw less, because you can cut that part off quite easily with a dremel, too.

It's minimal, if any. The circuit won't be closed anymore, so I'd think you're just powering a few SMD ICs.

Its the transformer thingee that draws the most power. Even if you take the tubes off it will still be drawing power. Once its gone is when the screen really gets efficent.
copulate all you goddamn smartasses.

He also said to use a 10 ohm resistor. But we all know where that gets us...
