The protocol is completely different. Besides that, the DS lacks the hardware+software to run GB/C games. Just download lameboy and load it onto a flashcart.
I rest my case. Or whatever.

I do know my stuff. And the protocol is exactly the same on the micro, how do you think the GBA reads GBC carts? And of course you can boost the voltage, I could boost it to 120v if I wanted to.XCVG wrote:You guys know nothing about this stuff. YOU CANNOT JUST PLUG A GBC GAME INTO A DS AND EXPECT IT TO WORK! Excellent

As we both know by now it works on the GB micro. However, it does not work on the DS. I tried the software mode switch on a DS running GBA mode, without success. (And, I could add, I had someone try to enter GBA mode on a DSi, which also failed...

Re: gbc support for ds?
Palmer, I hate to correct you, but the protocol is not exactly the same. In GBC mode, the cartridges are read differently; GBA mode can NOT read GBC games, and vice versa. That is why in the GBA and GBASP there was a small physical switch that activated GBC mode; this kicked it into GBC mode, enabling it to read the older cartridges. The only thing that's the same is the cartridge slot style itself.

Thats right, I am gonna be the poop egress who pulls out out of context wikipedia quotes to make me look smarter!Wikipedia wrote:a protocol is a convention or standard that controls or enables the connection, communication, and data transfer between computing endpoints.
Protocols may be implemented by hardware, software, or a combination of the two
I know the GBA and GBC protocols are different, I was trying to say that the core of the GBA/SP/Micro has the same protocol for GBC, which is obviously different than that of the GBA. Perhaps a better way of putting it would be to say it supports both protocols.

Excellent
