just go easy on yourself and do not relocate the cart slot. It's not that bad having a cart sticking out the backside of the portable.

but since he's already desoldered it, it can be really tricky to get it to go back into the board. rather tricky indeed. doable, but not necessarily easy.

I know SS said he would do an N64 cartslot for $10+shipping at some point, might wanna see if he would do it for your SNES.

My tip would be to use some sandpaper to get rid if whatever film of gunk there is, then try again. What wattage iron are you using?

25-watt combination soldering iron / woodburner. My only real female of the dog species about it is the soldering tip. It never allows me to get the solder on the TIP. Only the side. Which is difficult for me to do tight soldering joints with.

Right you are one that one, lol. I tried. I think thats what caused one of my pins to be weak enough to break.

Instead of paying someone to finish your cart slot for you, why not invest in a new iron? Those combo irons suck for soldering. Radio Crap cheapie is less than $10, and is a decent iron.

I'm happy with my iron. It works fine. And I'm good with it. This isn't an iron problem, I don't think. When this thing dies, I'll do that, though. Thanks Tib.

That has to do with the soldering tip, not the iron itself.

(It's hot, thats why I'm holding it with pliers.)

The iron is probably better than the RadioShack one, actually. Or similar at the very least. This thing hits temp in about 3-5 minutes.
