(You guys went off topic, and complained that this post and my other posts is blogging. Infact if they were blogging a moderator would notify me. You guys' dont need to go offtopic in any of my threads and accuse me of breaking the rules, when actually what you guys are doing is against the rules.

Ignoring all your other replies, just wanted to point out: You have said things like this a few times, I wanted to point out that nowhere in the rules does it say that it is against the rules/reportable to go off topic. Read the rules yourself before acting on your impulse to make anything someone does that you dislike a crime.

Oh, and I wanted to point out this has been in print for even longer, I think the launch issue of MAKE had an article on this. There has also been follow up since 2006, and with the new harder coating, the body will reject the implant without a steady stream of anti-rejection drugs that wreak havoc on your immune system at large. There is also a high likelihood of your nerves and muscle network building a dependence on its mass, and if the magnet shatters (Highly likely, neodymium magnets are very brittle) or is torqued too much (by getting your finger crushed in a door or something), your body is going to have an extremely hard time healing properly, and if it does, there is a good chance that you will have chronic pain in that finger, causing an amputation to be needed.

Long story short, this is a bad idea unless you are willing to lose high sensitivity so you can use a medical grade glass sheath, as used in tracking implants, and place it in an area with far lower nerve density, and more flesh to protect it.

I have a rock embedded in my hand right below the middle finger from a nasty fall on my bike when I was 6-8 or so. It formed what looks like a small cyst, it almost like a wart. My body has yet to reject it. I go on living happily, unaware it's even there. I don't feel it at all.

Mind you, judging by the size of the cyst or whatever, it's probably not much larger than a grain of sand.

his finger didn't look all that bad after it healed up. I saw somewhere else a guy who lost the end-segment of his finger to the propeller of one of his model airplanes or something of the like. That wasn't the awesome part of the story, though. the awesome part was that he regrew the entire thing. new finger nail and even regrew his finger-print.
