So, I just got one of these in the low-end configuration then upgraded the HDD and RAM myself. So far, I am surprised by it's performance. I thought it wouldn't be that great, but honestly, it's a very underrated machine (the new one with the Nvidia chipset). The new 9400 video is really doing quite well for midrange gaming as well. A lot of people are complaining about it being too expensive for what it is, but with the way mine's been performing with the new specs makes it feel quite justified.

All of this consumes 13W of power idling, 45W peak.

Yeah, I'd hardly say a Mac is made of "mystery junk parts." The logic board is custom-designed by Apple, I think you'd be hard-pressed to find a name brand motherboard with the features it has packed into such a small size. If there's one thing I've learned about Apple it's that you get quality.

If there's one thing I've learned about Apple it's that you get quality.

Haven't you ever heard the stories about the three tubes of thermal paste? Or actually FELT the case. These things are cheap garbage that they charge you an exhorbitant amount for, because it's a Mac. Apple stuff is not quality. It's probably because everything else is so cheap, people lack perspective now.

I'm sticking with my homebuilt PC.

EDIT: Okay, sorry about that rant. I don't like Macs, I think they are overpriced, and I am a really function over form person. (as my Ugly Voltage Regulator can attest)
