You can use two smaller PSUs. Just use some large diodes and a big Cap.

Well the HU isn't extra anymore, but now i have an extra 400W amp, would i use the same equation to power it up? 've seen vids on youtube powering up car amps and they look like some pretty cheap PSU does it really matter

PicoPSUs are nice. I have one in my NES PC. They also have an automotive variable voltage input one. I got mine from mini-box.com

That would be 228 watts. for what you gave for the 12V line. If you're asking if it's enough to power a video card, it depends on what you're putting in it. This has absolutely nothing to do with a video card? I thought you were asking about that.
