Sounds quite hardcore!Electric Rain wrote:...Anyone ever thought about re-designing an N64 PCB? Like, rebuilding the whole thing way more compact? A schematic would have to be generated, which would really be the hardest part. After that, it's just laying out parts and running an auto-router... Transferring the chips from an original N64 board to the new one shouldn't be too hard for someone with the right equipment. There aren't THAT many chips...![]()
If anyone does it, please make a comprehensive how-to-make-step-by-step-guide in layman's terms!

Ha! Neither the 2600-on-an-FPGA nor the NES-on-an-FPGA project have even reached full compatibility yet... I'd love to see you try, but I don't think it's gonna be easy by any means.

Yeah you're dimensions are good. Once you start going further you would need to put heaps more work in to make it a bit smaller.Gamelver wrote:heh, I actually was at one point considering redesigning the whole mobo...
then I realized how much work that'd be, and thought the dimensions I cut it down to were good enough
Though I would love to see a portable that small.
Could we please see some pics.
PLEASE? I DYING TO SEE THIS!

Would you like a professional looking custom case for your portable? I may be able to help you. Check out this link:

pics and status reports
I'll show you pics when everything's wired up
. I've been really busy at school, so I haven't had a chance to get that N64 mobo wired....but I did buy the screen (still hasn't come in
), and will soon be getting my vacuum forming table remade (my old one was crap...this one will be much better
). When I buy the stuff for the vacuum form table I'll also buy the wood for the case. I've decided to carve the case in wood and vacuum form it, since the shape is not too detailed and wood is pretty easy to shape (for me).
I'm going to get the electronics done before actually making the case, but hopefully the dimensions I've measured out will work (I've already designed the case and dimensions). Maybe I could post pictures of the case design, but I don't have a camera right now to take pictures
...I'd scan the design, but it was drawn on my table
I should be getting a camera in a few weeks, though; I'm asking my family to ship me out one of the ones we have so I can use it when I sell these portables, too
(oh yeah, I'll be selling this portable
...if I haven't already mentioned it)

Without games my life would have no meaning.
Well, I guess it would, but it would be a lot less fun!!!!!!!
