Plastic got here today. Gonna look and see how big, or rather small, I can make this thing. Updates to come later today MAYBE.

This plastic looks like the same thing they use in tub surrounds... You can pick it up by the sheet at Menard's if that's what it is. Prolly cheaper, too. I'll look into it.

Got the electronics side out again. Worked on it for about 4 hours. Got everything hooked up correctly. Plugged it in...

Still nothing. No sound. No video. I'm pretty irritated at this point. Everything is correct, as far as I can tell.

Any other ideas without going to composite video? I really want to keep RGB.

Just go with composite. RGB hardly makes a noticeable difference on such a small screen. The PS1 screen has great clarity, even with composite.

And truthfully, RGB doesn't look any better then composite on that 5" screen.

On some systems, eg N64, GC and SNES, looks the same on a PSone screen whether RGB or composite; however on some other systems RGB looks better as you can get colour bleeding and strong reds via composite (eg GBA with TV out) so you need RGB.

Just to let you all know, I wont be able to work on this for a few days (Still been trying to get RGB to work....Next time I pick the soldering iron up, I'll rewire it for comp.).

Going to NY (Tomorrow) for a visit with my fiancee's family. With luck, I'll get on and off the plane without a hitch. If you never hear from me again, and see a huge fireball on the news with the headline "Plane to NY lost control and hit ground"... Well... I guess you could say that this project would be put on hold... permanently.

Right fast, though. I lost the pin-out for the AV plug on the SNES. Without it, I cant do much. If anybody can find it, post it here for me, will ya? All I remember about the page I had was it was a simple black theme with a pin-out graph and a couple sentences about doing RGB (Which is useless to me, but it might help you identify the page I speak of). Thanks.

If you aren't getting sound, then the issue is deeper, maybe something silly like not connecting ground from screen to console, etc?

Best thing to do is to wire the system up using composite, make sure everything works, then all you do is make it RGB instead. If you still get nothing, then something else is wrong and needs resolving first.

It also depends on the screen. I once had a screen that accepted RGB and composite, I connected composite to it to test it, and it looked HORRIBLE. Horrible bleeding.

Yes, using composite for the TV card for a GBA looks bad, strong reds, bleeding, etc - RGB is beautiful fortunately.

I tend to just use PSone screens as they are deemed to be one of the best for image quality for small screens; also, keeps everything standard.
