The way batteries work is that the Positive and Negative (or GND) must be connected for current to flow. If you break a connection somewhere along the line the current will stop flowing. In DC circuits GND doesn't come from anywhere but the negative terminal of the voltage source (in this case a battery).
AC circuits are completely different from DC circuits and have there own set of rules.
My Duop works by switching the GND wire on and off. I usually pick what wire runs closest to the switch.

I also found out that I have no sound. I thought the TV was just turned down, but apparently not. WTF? No sound from either the sound card on the PSone screen or from the TV when I plug it in? This is a bit nerve wracking...
carpet = VERY BAD. never EVER set exposed electronics on carpet! it can and will kill things. also to reiterate what rekarp, tibia etc are saying in low power DC circuits its common practice to switch common/gnd. high power DC and AC are completely different animals because AC has 3 leads, ground(actual earth ground) common and hot. and AC voltage works differently. i've taken AC circuit analysis, DC circuit analysis, power transfer technology and digital circuits in college. I might not be an EE but i know what im talking about. if you had a switch on ground somehow kill something the fault was elsewhere, a short to ground or bridged lead, faulty switch or something else.

Did you remove the transformer properly? It looked like part of it was still on in the pictures. I don't exactly know what it does, but in the book it says to desolder it.

Is that for the screen or the SNES? Cuz if its for the screen, I need it. Its how the backlight turns on (Not doing LED mod unless I absolutely have to).

Not that I can find. Its really annoying when this happens. My dad wants to look at it, and then a friend of mine wants to if I haven't figured it out by the time we next see each other.
If the plastic gets here before I get it working, I'm still gonna go into case-making.
