Is this an NOAC?

Ritzy features include:

Cheezy Name
4 "AAA" Batteries
Mono Audio / Compsite Video
Player 2 port
Built in crappy games (82)
Built in light gun
Cartrige port (famicom?)

All for the Goodwill bargain price of US $2.99

Not gonna take apart until I am sure of its portable possibilities.

Yep. Famicon cart slot. If you have a Famicon to NES adapter, it plays NES games too. I had one, but I didn't have the time or money to portabilize it, so Valium has it now. I never did get a cart with mine, though.

Yes they suck.

Want to make a portable.
Found A/V signals on mobo
Can't find + power, but ground was easy
Removed joystik (useless!)
Removed Light gun trigger and led (useless again!)
No more player 2 port.

Now The unit is approx. 5 3/8" x 1 3/4" x 5/8"

20.75 hours

Now Powered off sony camcorder battery (is there anything they can't do?)
Found + power
Rewired power indicator

Need to find out how to permanetly banish built in games.
When I removed fami cartrige, crappy games reduced from 82 to 10

yeah mothatrucka I have the pics and I will upload them soon unless turkinatr could possibly tell me where the + and - are....

I did use a multimeter to test possible combinations and I think I found the right spot but when I attach a 6v rechargable battery nothing happens.

I may have fried it :(

edit: have you tried the Ben Heck method of disabling built in games?

Image
Note the single wire going across the contacts - this disables the crappy built-in ROMS.

the above is in words of Ben Heck not me

edit: O.K. I got the pics uploaded. this would probably be better in my other foru but while theres someone else working on a powr joy portable here I mind aswell upload it here.

so heres the power board for the pj noac
Image

now when I test voltage directly on the battery pad things I get about 6 volts
Image
Image

after following the trace the negative charge runs through a resistor and turns to about 1/2 volts

Image
Image

I assume this means that there are 4 batteries just to make it long lasting (and by trying to attach 6 volts directly to the noac I probably fried it) So keep that in mind turknatr

well I think my noac is fried because it wont start off of just the red and yellow wire. I will try and solder all the wires on tommorow and use double A batteries and find out for sure. also I dont remember which side of the pcb the wires came off of...

Sorry about the huge picture, I was downsizing them but photobucket went down for maintainence before I downsized the last picture

I think its quite the opposite! My power joy is hooked up to a 7.2 volt Li-ion, and it works. I cut the two "unused" wires and it shut off. I'm guessing that they are some kind of signal wires. I just soldered battery wires to spots where old battery terminals were. Also maybe try a battery with more voltage. The 7805 might not like 6v.

Edit: Here are pics of mine

well when you said that the two unused wires were cut it powered off so I resolderes the power pcb and hooked it up to 4 AAA batteries and It worked, but I will have to try find a rechargable that will work.

Hey, I still have that same model somewhere around here, in an old NESP I never had the money to finish. :D

As for getting rid of the built in games, I see no reason why anyone would want to do that. It just seems like an added bit of work that doesn't effect any of the functionality of the cartrige reading portion.

Multimeter battery is dead, prolly won't get a new one until tomorrow. Can't figure out wire thing, because meter was showing wierd numbers. Gonna hand wire an nes adapter I guess. I'll ask Ben more stuff about how he did his tomorrow.
