(Help) Fixing Whammy Bar on Rock Band Controller

My whammy bar on my RB controller broke!

Here is a picture of the inside of the whammy bar. This person's spring broke.

My spring is fine, but the part circled in red here broke off.

I don't think superglue would do the trick because the spring pulls up on that, so it would just pull it off again wouldn't it?

of course I am not very mechanically inclined so what would I know haha.

Super glue doesn't have the kind of mechanical girth you need; I recommend 2-part epoxy.

Can you drill a small hole in that part and insert a screw or small metal rod? If not, you could make a groove for it to sit in, then cover it with epoxy.

I would strongly recommend using the screw/rod method. I epoxied my broken parts back together, and it broke again. It just doesn't hold up to that kind of tension.

There is a much easier solution to this: RUBBER BANDS!!

I just bought a 100 pack at Office Depot, some that were rather small and thin. I wrapped about 5-10 of them around the edge of the post on the whammy bar, and then around one of the screw posts. Mine has been going for about a year now with rubber bands, no problems so far. Definitely the easiest solution!

It's really small, I'll check out my drill bits tomorrow though.

I have braces and they come with tiny little rubber bands to realign my jaw, I could use one of those

. The problem would be connecting it, the white part is broken

Or, you could use JBweld. That stuff holds cars and stuff together. Garunteed 250 lb strength hold. (Or is it more? Maybe 500lb?)

I'm not sure if those would be very durable in the long run... And how is the white part broken? I thought you said that it was just the metal spring that was broken.

EDIT: Nevermind, I just re-read the post

I would drill a hole in the white piece and mount a rod or screw or something and then wrap the rubber bands around that (similar to what bic said).

Thanks everyone I will try to put a screw there. Would I drill so the screw goes up away from the body of the guitar or so it would go parallel to it?
