This is a question directed mostly to Marshall, Electric Rain, Gannon and Timmeh87. To get straight to the point, how did you guys get so awesome at electronics. I can look at the circuit board for the Gamecube IDE interface and understand a very little bit. What sort of things would I need to do to get even a little bit of proficiency in understanding circuit design because its something I've wanted to do ever since I was 8 and while I can solder and understand capacitors, resistors, LEDs and other diodes it is a very basic understanding. So what would you recommend I do to get better.
Also I finished my n64 portable a couple of weeks ago. Does anyone know what I need to do to get the fancy little portabliser title under my name?
A quick Question

I took a class in high school, really didn't learn much. You just have to have an interest and willing to learn. You can learn a lot by taking things apart and reading books. You just have to get involved, reading isn't enough.

I am a geek.

That's very flattering of you, but I think you're overestimating my skills.
I've been really into electronics for quite a few years now. All I ever did was research stuff on the internet. I was a part of the Electro-Tech-Online forums for a long time, where I learned most of what I know today. The people there are very helpful, despite how much I used to bug them with simple questions.
I also used to check out different schematics over at Discover Circuits, which took up several hours a day of my life for a few years.
I learned about electronics the same way I've learned HTML, CSS, Javascript, PHP and MySQL; by looking stuff up on the internet. There are lots of great tutorials for all sorts of "technical" things like this...
Even I don't understand a lot of what goes on about the GC IDE/USB project, mostly the software end of it. Many don't, which is one of the reasons that it hasn't gotten built by anyone but its creator yet. I can read its schematics, and that's about it.
