Laptop problems... Again!

That's what I did... I got the EULA.txt not found message. Other people on the Internet reporting the problem solved it by reformatting to NTFS. I can't do that, as DOS doesn't support that. What should I do?

Verify that you even have EULA.TXT. I've never run across this error, but then, I only deal with XP Professional. I hear that Home screws off at every opportunity.

Alternately, install Win2K instead. If it installs without screwing off, then you can install XP on top of it after you copy XP's installation files over the network.

I checked and I do have EULA.txt. I'm using XP Pro. I don't have a disc of Windows 2000.

Alright, if you have a legitimate version of XP Pro, and you're still getting BS, "acquire" another vanilla version of XP Pro. No modified versions, just plain jane. While it's entirely unlikely, your original copy may be damaged, so reacquiring it may work. Troubleshooting software is a royal PITA.

BUT NOW YOU GET TO HAVE FUN.

Mount the drive in a desktop, and install XP onto it. Yeah. If the system will function fine, then ‾\(Âº_o)/‾, and something is borked. Transplanting won't work, since you can't do jack in the useless recovery console. Beh, you may be able to get away with starting the installation on one system, then switching systems at the first reboot before installation begins in earnest. Just make sure the installation files are on the drive.
