That distorted guitar sounds hideous. It sounds like clean guitar with another instrument making just a noise-type blowing-into-the-mic kind of sound.

Other than that, great job.

It Does have that problem, i looking into getting a proper distortion pedal, my amp's nice and loud and got a nice spring reverb on it but the distortion is cheap and nasty. Doesnt show so much live but it leaps right out in recording.

I feel your pain. For recording, I think the trick is to use a less distorted guitar.

Anyways, if you have the money, buy a GT-8. I myself have had a GT-6 for at least 5 years now. It was bought new for $700, and to date it still works exactly like the day we bought it. It comes loaded with so many different effects, you won't ever get around to using them all. Not to mention it has the ability to save your favourites over an existing effect. (Maybe the GT-8 has the ability to store it on an EMPTY effect, that would be nice).

It also has 5-7 different overdrive/distortion settings, and then at least 3 sub-settings for each of those settings. And then from there, you can adjust the gain, volume, and pretty much everything else.

It's definitely something to serious consider if you're recording music. You can get EXACTLY the sound you're looking for.

Little bit out of my price range

considering i only make about Â£40 ($70-$80) a week and taking into account the price of a pint these days im always short of cash

I was thinking something a little more simple, im not a great user of effects. Reverb, Distortion is all i really need, maybe Echo/Delay on a rare occasion.

I definitely recommend a Boss pedal. Looking at teir site, the GT-10 is now out. Considering my GT-6 is heavily used (maybe not heavily ABused) and is still in mint condition, minus a few scratches on the metal shell, it wouldn't be hard to find a good condition used one.
