CRT caps

Post by Bibin »

So my arcade monitor is having issues. While this is a problem with my Dig-Dug machine, it's more of a general CRT's issue. I think the caps in the PSU and/or monitor need to be replaced, as...

-The degaussing coil does not work
-Odd lines on screen
-Video does not fill the screen (adjustments do not fix it)
-Cycles between way-too-bright and way-too-dark
-Odd lines and wiggles on the screen every second or so
-Inputs occasionally drop out

He cant just get a new one. They don't make erm anymore. Looks like the tube is ok. Just a matter of finding the right parts.

Theres a forum at Atariage.com called Arcade Coin-ops. You should post your question there as they can give you better advice on this problem.

Not Dig Dug screens  Modern CRTS use VGA which is different then what Old Arcade CRTs used

I could buy a good Wells-Gardener, but I'm not a person with money. The tube is fine, and it has once desplayed a perfect image (the color issues were temporarily solved with a guitar amp speaker held up to the side upon turning it on to simulate a degausing coil), but the fact that the marquee does not light and the input is intermittent implies it is a power issue.
