OS X runs on PC hardware, its just illegal. Many people do it, but most dual boot with Windows, too. So they aren't really building a mac.

Yes, they somewhat are, as having windows does not make it not a mac, and OS X is essentially what makes it a mac. If I took your precious i[whatever] and stripped it of it's case, so it looked like a heap of working parts, and attatched a generic keyboard and monitor, and put it it a beigebox case, it's still a Mac. What makes it a mac? The system, more than the internals and case.

The OS and that little hardware chip that makes sure you can only run OS X on a PC built by Apple.Inc. Like mentioned long ago, Macs are high end PCs with the Mac OS on them (since the Intel Macs).

Hope it turn out good for you. I'm going to cheap way and simply run OS X in VMware.
