Electric Shock help

Hey, I always tend to take out my anger or bordem on old crappy electronics.

I got a question. I have an old crappy ass cell phone and I want to smash it a lot and see if it will still turn on. (Stress test

)

Is it safe to start hitting it with a hachet and hammer if the phone is OFF but the battery is charged?

Use DC power instead of battery at all, if possible.

My idea is to leave it on, with DC power, but have it on a power strip so you can step-deactivate it in case you short out the DC internally. It's best if you let the screen be so you can see it slowly mess up.

Take it out on any old videogames that aren't ET or SuperMan 64 and I'll kill you.

Don't even THINK about it if the phone has a lithium battery! Lithium reacts violently to oxygen and will burn bright, hot white if you break the cells. Take the batteries out, then go ahead and smash all you want. Wire the battery back in after you've destroyed it.

Potentially busting open any kind of battery is always a bad thing.

Question for ya'll. After I destory it, will it be safe to plug it into DC adapter and see if it works?

You're thinking Lithium (or Potassium, Calcium, Sodium, Cesium Francium, Strontium, and to a much less degree, magnesium [there's a few more]) reacting with water. With air it just oxidizes really really fast. And lithium ION means it's already reacted, doesn't it? Anyways I punctured one of my Li-Po cells and it didn't do anything. The next day the cell was floppy and had a charge of 2.3V, though.

pretty much anything in group 1 of the periodic table needs to be handled by a professional

an no li-ion has lost an electron, if sealed properly, it can have electrons move across a wire to the more positive osurce (the lithium) when you think ground always remember that the electrons are COMING from the ground (see current is measured positivle since the electrons are charged negatively, I=qv, q=-1 velocity is always positive I=1, so the positive current is backwards meaning the electrons are coming from the ground)
