Not really, the stupid supply things limit that, and you can only select 12 units at a time. Total Annihilation is an older RTS that is mainly about massing units. The resources are unlimited (you build a building that get the resource, it never runs out), you can select as many units as you have, and the unit limit is a set number (200 original, 250 with expansion(s), up to 5000 with hacks), no supply depots.
My ideal RTS would have huge maps and allow you to mass a huge army and take hours to finish a battle.
i loved TA, pity i only ever played the demo

KKND all the way

Bout time, starcraft is still an awesome game now, i hope this sequel can live up to that

I just saw the gameplay video and I'm really friggin impressed. Looks awesome, I always liked Starcraft better than any of the Warcraft games.

I was just at the blizzard site, and the random Blizzard Program ad thing that popped up went as follows:

"Starcraft 2: Hell, It's about time!"

And Vskid, straight from the Blizzard Site:
In Warcraft II and StarCraft, the focus was on large groups of units, unit match ups, and sometimes unit control. In Warcraft III, the focus is on Heroes, spellcasting, and unit control. Unit match ups and numbers of units come in secondary.
In the game, I see a line of 8 for unit grouping, and potentially 3 lines down... groups of 24 anyone?

Well, I don't know about you, but 12 doesn't seem like a number that would be good for "large group of units". They can say whatever they want, 12 is a small number if you're moving a large army across the map. It drives me crazy to try to move a large force on any game that has a limit on selected units.

I've never heard about/thought of doing that, but its so much easier to just have one group of 120 guys and tell them to go somewhere than to have 10 groups of 12. Being able to check who you have selected and their heath is a good part of it, but it still drives me crazy. I think its the way I fight.

Meh.

I remember playing Starcraft when I was very little. So little that I never got into playing a ladder game because I stunk so bad. It was played over my 56k modem, before the provider went bankrupt.
